This job we arrived. It was informed to give an estimate for a 4 ton 96% gas furnace. We worked up an estimate and emailed it over to the potential customer.
We arrived for just a regular preventive maintenance checking all amp draws between competitors contactors capacitors and fan motors. Also checking the refrigerant charge being a 410 system thermal expansion valve so the sub cool was reading good as well as the refrigerant charge. Also check the air filter. Customer said the filter has been replaced last week. Also checked temp split to make sure we was getting a good temperature split reading between the return and supply we did notice a bad capacitor on the outdoor condensing unit showed the customer customer wanted to move forward with replacing the capacitor.
For this job we changed out the existing vtac unit for a new one
For this job worked on r22 split system indoor unit would run but not out door Checked capacitor both here and fan side were doa New 45/5 capacitor tested and installed On start system was hesitant checked charge super heat -1.5 but indoor temperature drops to 90 schedule call back to check charge after indoor temperature normalizes 20 degree temp split Return to check charge on system Delta T 19 superheat 20 subcool 6 on our 22 piston system. Everything checks out noticed the event was putting out hot air went and open the damper up in the attic. Recommend Gulf Coast insulation or panhandle insulation to put in blowing insulation.

Arrived at Hertz services at Pensacola Airport, which showed thermostat to air handler system three you could hear the indoor running so went outside to check. The outdoor outdoor system was running checked amp draws, and charge according to the service chart on the panel. System is about three cool under where it should be according to outdoor temperature and indoor temperature. Waiting for a callback from Lane Valente for a charging increase discovered they system we were shown doesn’t even feed offices Unit 2 feeds the offices indoor running out door not found main breaker tripped after testing voltage on contactor After starting system found super heat and subcool to fluctuate significantly during operation action recommend replacement or repair involving new compressor fresh charge and new txv
I arrived to the job and was informed the system was not cooling. It was determined the system is operating correctly. The thermostat was just set in a schedule mode and due to VBS. The system was not running during the hours they were there. I put the system in a permanent hold just for the time of VBS and explain to them to just take it out after VBS is over.
Arrived and addressed the issues. Scott has pictures.
Replumbed drain so door would shut and could access filter
Worked on trane split system she said it would cool sometimes and sometimes it wouldn’t Showed me and Scott a video they had of the outdoor unit running noticed fan was barely running looked at capacitor noticed the the fan side connection was very loose attempted to crimp connection to no avail. Cut and put new connection on wire system running fine and without hesitation
Worked on 1.5 on system customer states system always running notice system was cool but fan was set on. put fan auto so it’ll turn off Checked system charge piston super heat 40 added one pound after talking to John about finding the leak wants to look for leak at later time After adding charge super heat leveled out around 10 then dropped to zero went to check filter and coil found filter matted hadn’t been changed since October of last year After pulling filter superheat went back up to 15 Noticed underside of coil was filthy recommend clean in place but pull and clean is the best solution
For this job I arrived and it was important. The system was not running and felt like the heat was on upon inspection. It looks like somebody has been outside tampering with the copper lines going to the condensing unit as they were broken and caused all the refrigerant to leak out the manager says they noticed the system had stopped working last Friday, but this system has still been running since then the compressor is not working and is more than likely dead and the system will also need to be recharged after the copper has been repaired.
No cool system running just not putting out good temps check the charge and draws voltage initial super heat was 46 and the initial subcool was .7 went over indoor and outdoor unit with leak detector. Couldn’t get any hits.notified customer that it needed a refrigerant added about 2 pounds superheat dropped to about 12 so cool only came up to 1.7 and fluctuates believe TXv isn’t metering properly recommend replacement

For this job, I arrived and spoke with Mr. Vanhorn about the drain line. He informed me the issue wasn’t the drain line in the way it was how hard and the inconvenience it was to remove the air filter underneath the unit. He also has a return on the side of the wall that he says he will start using for the filter to eliminate the inconvenience at this time. He is happy
For this job, I done a preventive maintenance on the indoor and outdoor system making sure the system is operating correctly for the summertime. I tested all amp draws between the compressors contactors fan motors and capacitors. I also checked the refrigerant levels and made sure proper 240 V was being applied to both systems. I blew out the drain line and also got an 18° temperature split this system is operating correctly at this moment

Both service technicians were very professional. Anthony came out on initial problem and diagnosed it. He said that they would order the part ( since it was under warranty) and would get back in touch with us. The next day the office called and scheduled for the following day. Liam arrived on time replaced the faulty part. Both technicians were polite, pleasant and answered all questions that we had. Thank you very much to the office staff and the field technicians.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, we stand behind the quality of our workmanship and offer guarantees on our repair and installation services.
In many cases, replacing an old AC unit is more cost-effective in the long run than repairing it repeatedly.
Older units are often less energy-efficient and more prone to breakdowns, leading to higher energy bills and repair costs over time. Additionally, newer models come with advanced features and technologies that can improve comfort and save money on energy expenses.
Therefore, if the repair costs are significant or if the unit is nearing the end of its lifespan, replacing it with a newer, more efficient model may be the better option.
There are several indicators that it might be time to replace your AC unit. These include…
- Frequent breakdowns
- Rising energy bills
- Inconsistent cooling
- Continual strange odors or noises
Additionally, if your system uses an outdated refrigerant that’s being phased out, such as R-22, replacement might be more cost-effective than repairing.
Repair appointments are made to fix damages or issues to your heating system. At McNorton Mechanical, this includes a professional assessment, transparent conversations, and effective solutions.
